It sold 23,000 copies during the May 17-23 week. No other album with vocals created by voice synthesis software has topped Oricon's weekly album chart before.

This almost seems like a lucky break based on when it was released.

Supercell's album sold 55,652 its first week. Impact and Memories sold 26,639 and 25,606 respectively.

There is/will be. It's call Black Rock Shooter, out this summer....and Miku makes a cameo in Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

@Akukame: agreed. This past week was a dead week for the music industry. Everything comes out this coming week. The album is still good though regardless

Hurray for Miku! Must have been a lot of Vocaloid otaku out there to buy that album.

I mourn the death of Japan's music industry. Now if we can just combine this and have all singers Auto-Tune every song.... Laughing

I'm hoping the My Soul, Yours Beats single will sell twice as much. Lia's voice is just fantastic. That's for this upcoming week though.

Good luck. If ya can sell fake singing to a gullible populace, why would ya need real singers? If ya can sell Milli Vanilli, who needs real bands? Might as well just Auto-Tune everything. Laughing

except you still need people to make music. It's not like the computer magically makes it for you. And yes even for harmonizing software like Antares autotune, it still requires a fair amount of musical programming. (the worse the singer, the more work for the producer Smile )

In any case, it's an apples to oranges comparison. People aren't tricked into buying the stuff Rolling Eyes For synthesized voices or heavily altered voices in general, the vocals are just treated as another instrument that you can manipulate to your heart's content. Different genres, different styles, different sounds, none mutually exclusive.

Black Rock Shooter is not about Hatsune Miku, or Vocaloid. The titular character, Black Rock Shooter, just happens to resemble her. And Miku sings her theme song. That is all of Vocaloid's relation to BRS.
