You gave Asch the Bloody a D? True the manga is better understood by those who actually played Tales of the Abyss, but a D is a tad harsh. Besides it only seems dry because Asch was off doing his own thing at the time Luke and company were off doing theirs. Usually it involved Asch popping in at during events when he was gathering information on Van's plans or trying to thwart them.

Incidentally, I sense the Asch fan girls will come in troves to pin your hide to the wall when they see what you wrote. I kid, but you know how that can get. Anime hyper

Blech, Monster Hunter and Loogie-oh (spit), keep them far away from me. XP

Mardock Scramble looks to be pretty interesting, I'll probably get it the next time I'm at the comic store. I'm still thrown off my Five Leaves' art style. It just isn't my cup of tea.

The thing with the Asch manga is, is that it was never meant to stand on its own. Asch, while not playable for the majority of the game, is one of the protagonists, and does have quite an interesting story... when taken in conjunction with Luke's. The manga isn't for people who don't already know who Asch is and why he acts the way he does. It's for people who have played the game, and want to know more about what Asch was doing when he wasn't hanging around your party.

Having "read" (and I use the term loosely) both volumes, my only complaint is that volume 2 spends most of the book getting from Akzeriuth to the Absorption Gate, and crams the rest of the game into the last bit of it, skipping the Tower of Rem completely.

The ending, especially the final page, however, is amazing.

I picked up Mardock Scramble: Volume 1 with the intent of reading it after I finish reading the omnibus of the novels. Still on Book Two of three. I prefer the character designs used for the movies over those used for the manga, which is why I didn't want the manga designs in my head when I read the novels. I also wonder (and worry) about how much of the story was toned down for the manga.
