On noitaminA: The most logical explanation I have heard (many times on this site) is that sometimes they gotta "sell out" in order to make the $$ for their more original shows, which more often then not bomb (at least compared to the fan-pandering shows). I for one have no problem with that, I mean damn, they gotta get their funding somehow!
Also, The Boondocks is an awesome show, everyone should watch at least a few episodes. I hope they come out with a season 4 soon, but as GATSU pointed out they are on the "whenever we feel like doing it" schedule. |

Hmm, I'm not sure what I'd call the best manga release of the year. Yes, Bride's Story and Wandering Son were both great, but I haven't read Princess Knight yet. I'm tempted to go with Bride's Story based on what I have read though because oversized artwork didn't really do anything for Wandering Son while it certainly benefitted the glorious detail of Bride's Story. Also, hardcover didn't do anything for Wandering Son other than raise the price of the book. Don't get me wrong, Wandering Son is great based on the first volume, it's just not something that needed to be souped up, there wasn't really any benefit for it.
And I've yet to read Princess Knight, but I'm sure it'll be up there, seeing how Vertical has yet to do any Tezuka release that has been anything short of fantastic. No Longer Human should get special mention due to being read left to right but having had the artwork altered by the mangaka himself at his own decision, which has never happened before. The result is good on top of it, so yeah, special mention from me. *sigh* if only this were last year and I could go with the easy answer of A Drunken Dream, which is still easily the most gorgeous manga published stateside I have ever seen. |

Well aside from just a couple avant-garde, experimental shows, most of their origins weren't really original either (not a criticism; since nothing is very original). Like I inferred earlier, it's say, Jyu Oh Sei 2 or Eden of the East, Honey and Clover 3 or AnoHana. They aren't abandoning fujoshi as we still get shows like No.6, but I think they just don't want to put all their eggs in one basket. Even shows that are part of that "sell-out" don't always work out either, like Fractale and C3 |

I wouldn't say you're "almost done" if you're spoiler[collecting the first flame]. You're much closer to the end than you are the beginning, but still about a dozen or so hours away. |

If that were true we'd be more likely seeing an adaptation of a relatively popular seinen manga (in contrast to the josei series like Paradise Kiss or Honey and Clover that people might associate noitaminA with) than Guilty Crown, and more than likely without any Supercell involvement. |

While I agree with "ratings, ratings, ratings" the rest of that explanation is ridiculous. If the long episode count was worth a hill of beans then Cowboy Bebop and ESPECIALLY FLCL wouldn't run anymore. I think the much more likely explanation is one of two things: 1. A combination of Inu Yasha being much more "episodic" (ie. drop in and not need back story or care about where the story is going) combined with shows like "Death Note" and "Code Geass" having a (semi)coherent narrative that once you know the end, you're not going to watch as religiously the second time around, and if you didn't watch it intently the first time, why would you do it the second time. 2. It's pretty proven that CN hates their anime fans, and they're determined to find new and inventive ways to drive them insane, like showing the same retreads ad nauseum until anime fans stop wanting to see anime on the air. Altho it's probably like 90% the former and 10% the latter.

But if he's stuck spoiler[at the tadpoles part], that's a "Big Water Level" for sure, then he's even closer to the end of the game than that! Anyway, I beat Skyward Sword just the other day myself. It was epic! Though I totally called spoiler[the old woman being Impa after first seeing Impa] |

We should be celebrating art, but DOWN WITH GUILTY CROWN which is a beautifully-animated work.
In addition, Eden of the East was mentioned just after complaining about Guilty Crown's fanservice, despite a certain blue-haired woman. Seriously though I'm getting tired of all the backtalk about Guilty Crown. Anime fandom at large is getting to TV Tropes levels of nonsense with this series; can nobody watch a show without comparing it to something else anymore? Oi oi! Shiki was vampires done right, for my penn'orth. I loved Antique Bakery, and Genji Monogatari Sennenki was ART!
(Genji was also I think the last series from the late Osamu Dezaki, reuniting some of the team who made Oniisama E). Although the live action version of Moyashimon was a COLOSSAL mistake, the first time I could ever say I'd seen a Noitamina show I didn't like. |

But how would you get stuck at spoiler[the tadnotes part]? Sure, it's long and difficult (especially the purple ones), but nothing that'll stump you, especially since you can use dowsing. Now, if he can't figure out spoiler[the door combination at the Ancient Cistern], that'll leave you lost. I can't even touch that last spoiler, because I got frustrated at the spoiler[Sky Keep], and I'm taking a little break there. |

If I had to pick the best western manga release of this year I would have to say it's the Tenjo Tenge re-release.
I know a lot of people still have a lot of hate for Viz(though more on the anime side of things than the manga side), but you gotta give them props for the release. Not only is it finally uncut, but it has some pretty good looking color pages for each release, and translation is pretty good. I guess I just see this as one of those instances that shows that Viz still vaguely cares about the fans, and after years of getting burned by the CMX releases it feels nice to get that love. |

Best American manga release for 2011 HAS to be:
Sailor V/Sailor Moon re-release just because it's been wanted for SO long and such an upgrade over the previous release. I wanted to go "outside the box" with a digital release, but that honor will go to whoever FINALLY implements an Android app for me. |
