This one is certainly a late starter.
I wonder if the length of the series will be truncated due to that (i.e., 8-10 episodes). |

That late starting date is just for that one station. There has to be other stations that will premiere it earlier, right?

There are some oddities in episode length as of late. Guilty Crown is 22, Last Exile minus the recaps is 21, BRS is 8, that new Korean Zombie Desk Car will be 10.
I wish we could see more anime done with odd episode formats to fit the necessary number to tell a full story. Some anime really only need around 7 or 8 to tell a story arc, and some need more like 17 or 19 to be adequate. Too much or too little can ruin the overall effort. |

Not necessarily true. Look at Last Exile 2 and Black Rock Shooter. Last Exile 2 began towards the end of October when most shows aired at the beginning and Black Rock Shooter aired alongside Gokujo and Smile Precure! in early February rather than January. What I'm more curious about is what the station(s) will be doing for those 4 weeks though. I don't think any show this season will be ending that late. Maybe it's going to run on a schedule similar to Precure?
Guilty Crown's episode count is not odd. It's like Shiki, a 2-cour NoitaminA title and NoitaminA titles have typically been 11 episode lengths (assuming you discount the Guilty Crown recap episode, which would instead make it 23). A lot of people forget that it's not a NoitaminA title simply because it hell doesn't look like one. Lastly, about the show itself...this is starting to sound more and more like Idolmaster Xenoglossia. I was really hoping for this show to be more like another Idolmaster rather than another Xenoglossia... |
