So this FuniNico thing? What a load of bull that seems to be. Ever since the announcement all we've had is Sentai and Crunchyroll lol

Loving ya Sentai. Easily the best company around right now. Altho' NIS are my personal Fave.

Altho saying that Funimation are still the guys with my most anticipated release this year with more One Piece.

Funico might be falling apart. The NicoNico streaming page has a lot of its anime removed.

And Sentai just keeps on getting tons of shows. This was one I was interested in so it's nice to see it getting released. Hope to see it released on blu-ray with a dub.

I'm really wondering at this point if Sentai is over extending themselves and digging a early grave like they did as ADV when they would just license everything they could and not care how well it sold or if there was even a market for it. I mean I'm excited for the majority of what they have picked up over the last few months but it's been a massive glut of shows and one has to wonder if they are better the farm on trying to get more content then Funi.

It's odd because after the whole Funico thing I expected Funi to be releasing more stuff because they would have a better idea of what would sell but it seems as though that plan has failed as very few shows are streaming through niconico. It would be interesting to have a interview on ANNcast with someone at Sentai to see how they are doing and what the plan with so many releases is and perhaps another interview with someone from Funi to find out what the hell happened to Funico because it was touted by many to maybe be a bad thing for CR and Sentai but it certainly hasen't seemed to be.

Where is Sentai getting the money to license and release all these shows? Can the market even support so many?

I hope they know what they're doing.......there's nothing wrong with grabbing the licenses fast (especially in light of Funimation's overall strength), but profitability is important.

Funico is seeming about as viable as Media Blasters these days. I've heard that there is bad blood between Funimation and CR, but Funi should just suck it up and have their shows simulcast there, too. I want everything under one roof.

As for Tsuritama - couldn't finish the first eppie because I hated that alien guy too much.

In general, I sense that Funimation is unfriendly to any company perceived to be a direct competitor. When NIS America got started on anime, they even admitted that Funimation had given them the cold shoulder (when asked whether the two companies had ever approached each other to discuss the North American market).

In that regard, I'm not surprised that they chose to partner with NicoNico, who had no pre-existing stake in the market.

I doubt any of the US Anime distributors are what most folks would consider financial powerhouses.

It's good to see Anime getting licensed at all, let alone being done so often. There must still be life in the US Market.

He is definitely borderline. I'm curious about the other two characters and see how they turn out. And the duck. I have to find out what's the deal with the duck.

It is a gorgeous anime though. I hope it's BD so I can enjoy full color saturation.

I have to wonder if the Japanese have lowered or waived all of the initial license costs. We know they're not bloated like they were 5 years ago, but they can't still be that expensive for Sentai and FUNi to be able to grab up everything. Either that or they hired some fantastic accountants and market speculators to guide them though.

Or, they could be doing just as you said and kill themselves within the year due to market flooding. I never agree with the idea of licensing a show while it's still airing. It can very well turn to shit or just become so stale that a large number of would-be buyers give up on it. I understand the need for NA companies to be fast and fresh, but it can also be dangerous to grab the wrong shows for the wrong price. We've heard from the mouths of licensees that they themselves are only given an episode or two to come to a license agreement, unless that's changed and they're previewed much more of the show and future storyboards now? Doubt it. I can understand if it's based off of a manga that's well known in the west, but that also does not mean the anime can veer into left field and go down a treacherous road of original writing.
