I caught the Ghibli retrospective when it played in Toronto in the winter. Ghibli movies on bigscreen = heaven. In many cases, I was seeing the films for the first time ever. I didn't realize that Gkids was the company behind the retrospective - well done!

I don't know if Gkids had anything to do with it, but the Alamo Drafthouse recently screened most of those over a the course of a few months. They got their hands on some good 35mm prints for those showings.
Agreed! It was awesome to be able to see Spirited Away and Mononoke in a theater, but I'm glad I was able to see Only Yesterday, hadn't seen it since AMC did their retrospective years ago. |
