CODE:BREAKER is watchable enough. I actually like how ruthless Rei was. But the whole show is just so utterly generic that it is in danger of falling apart at any moment. Its themes are pretty silly; of course it is okay to kill someone to save an innocent life or to punish evil that cannot be contained in any other way. Sakura always says no it isn't and yet the circumstances in the show itself prove that she's wrong. Her perfectness clashes with her stupidity and both grate on my nerves, Rei instantly starts spoiler[caring about his classmates because they threw him a party,] and the bishounen are obviously designed (in both their bland appearances and cookie-cutter personalities) to appeal to Fujoshi. Even their spoiler[lost forms are groan-inducing, especially Toki's.] The antagonist is over powered and is not convincing; he's simply there to posture, just like everyone else. Finally, the action is really lame and uninspiring. For the first few episodes Rei's only power requires him to go up and touch people, which only works when opponents come at him one at a time (which they stupidly do; insert facepalm). Then with no explanation he spoiler[has the ability to shoot his flames, which would have come in handy back when facing the armed thugs.]

Long story short, I probably would have rated it a straight C as well.

Sad thing is the show only got 13 eps to show. So ALOT of stuff gets cut out from the manga. The mangaka's last series Samurai Deeper Kyo got the same treatment. The source material is not being followed to a point where you don't recognize it from the manga itself...

It's a shame really. At least this show is somewhat being treated a bit better...SDK got a alien of the week treatment when it premiered....

I really wished they had followed the source material. I'd give it a c as well even though I am watching it to the end...

Not my #1 of the season, but I'm enjoying it enough that it's among the first block of episodes I watch each weekend, and I'm attached to the characters and wanting to see more. I've never read the source material, however, and it sounds as if I should. I suspect that if I like the anime as much as I do, then I'll like the source even more.

I dropped it after the first episode. Seeing the MC spoiler[kill that poor defenseless dog made me absolutely hate him, and I didn't want to watch it anymore.]

You do realise he did that to put it out of its misery, right?

Well yes, this isn't my highlight of this season although I do enjoy some aspects of it. I do find our main female protagonist Sakura to be very annoying. On the other hand, I sort of like Ogami's character although he is generic and one of those guys I see often in anime these days.

Other than, the show is medicore for me although I have started the manga which I'm enjoying reading. O, the OP song is a rare gem this season imo though.

This is one of the shows that I enjoy this season. And I don't even like bishonens. It's just so satisfying when the antihero don't give a crap about idiotic philosophies and just get the job done. So without Sakurakouji spouting nonsense, this show could've been really bland. So personally I enjoy her character.

Carlo is typically strict, and it is good for down-to-the-roots honest judgement of certain anime in some absolute scale, where "A" is indeed outstanding work of art.

However, even a viewer wants to see a solid enough, entertaining action anime, then this project works really well.

There are so many of stupid-plot "kiddie" action shows, and all kinds of "ecci" ones, even more of "school life" shows -- that there is actually quite few of typical, but good shonen ones.

There are like 15-20 anime series that première each quarter, and among those only few are good action shonen shows (good, but not outstanding, which appear only once per year or rarer.)

So in this regard this marks/ratings system does not help viewers.

This is what I want. I'm tired of incompetent, incapable and indecisive main characters. The main character makes the show, I wish he killed more puppies.

Oww, poor you. Besides, that wasn't a dog, it was a bitch.

More puppies must die.
