Was there any doubt this would be an RPG? I mean, both franchises ARE RPG franchises, with the exception of P4 Arena.

I dunno, I kind of assumed it was a fighter myself, simply because every single crossover game I can think of has been. So this did catch me by surprise, but maybe that was just me.

Not really if you've followed the SMT franchise. Back in the Super Famicom days, Atlus released one of many side-games called Majin Tensei that was essentially a Fire Emblem clone (well, more so the first than the second).

Looking good, looking good. Nothing wrong with this, as long as they get their stuff right and don't like....Final Fantasy Tactics Advance it and remove all the stuff i liked about the originals.

First crossover that comes to mind for me is Namco x Capcom. Which is an RPG.
