I'm not in love with the character designs so it's gonna take some getting used to, but I'm trying my best to keep an open mind since I love the first Digimon series so much.

Yup. The character designs look like some create your own custom character type thing or a copy and paste. It seems I'll get use to Agumon before Taichi.

Don't really care how this series ends, except if they do a reboot ending for Adventure 02 where Tai ends up with Sora.

I can accept Tai as part of the style (not a fan of this designer, but okay), but Agumon looks like when a kid draws a person/animal with the model in other paper and you can tell it's the same but the proportions are deformed. Can that body hold that giant face?

Hmm...Taichi's face looks a bit off-putting to me...
Oh, well, I'll grow to like it as time passes by. However, I am satisfied that Agumon hasn't changed all that much.

Seeing that hair with that face I'm starting to see how the odd the design choice is, and I'm not even one of the people who had a negative reaction to the initial showing of them. From what I've seen in Tsuritama I'm a bit more hopful that when I actually see it in show it'll all come together visually.
That said why does Agumon's head and forearms look so big here?

This is "season 3" so no, they just aren't ready to show everything yet. I guess I'm the only person on Earth that is perfectly fine with the new character designs. Emerje |

No, you're not I'm fine with them, it's just when I saw Taichi in this style with that hair I kinda just laughed and said "Dude get a haircut!" I'm used to Atsuya's style being connected to people with reasonably sized hair so seeing it on Tai is kinda weird. With it being such a minimalist style and being a redesign in of itself this kind of stuff is to be expected, though on the plus side due to this I'm seeing a lot of fanart for digimon mimicking the older style now, which for me is great since alot of times I roll my eyes when I see digimon drawn in a "mature" style of stuff like that. |
