Frontwing Funds Grisaia: Phantom Trigger Anime Entirely on Its Own

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

Game developer Frontwing's president Ryuichiro Yamakawa revealed on Friday that Frontwing funded the production of the television anime adaptation of the company's Grisaia: Phantom Trigger game, in contrast to the usual funding method for television anime, which involves assembling a production committee comprised of different sponsor companies to mitigate risk. Yamakawa said that the company invested a substantial amount in the anime's production, and asked fans to support the show.

The anime's first two episodes are slated to debut simultaneously this year.

Anime director Tensho (Kinmoza! Kiniro + Mosaic and its sequel, all three Grisaia anime, both seasons of Rewrite) founded the new animation studio Bibury Animation Studio to produce the anime as its first work. Akio Watanabe, the original character designer for the Grisaia franchise, is serving as the anime's character designer and chief animation director. Ryuichiro Yamakawa is producing the anime.

Maon Kurosaki is performing the opening song, and Yoshino Nanjō is performing the ending theme song. Grisaia series scriptwriter Yoshikazu Kuwashima wrote the lyrics for both theme songs, and Grisaia series theme song composer Hitoshi Fujima (Elements Garden) returned to compose the songs.
