Full-Scale Model of Ushio & Tora Spear Displayed in Shinjuku

posted on by Eric Stimson
3/4 scale model also displayed in Akihabara stores

Anime News Network's merchandise coverage sponsored by Tokyo Otaku Mode.

The fearsome Beast Spear that drives the plot of Ushio & Tora was displayed on September 25 in Tokyo, suspended two meters (about 6'7'') in the air outside of Shinjuku station's east exit, as if to restrain its power. The spear is also two meters tall.

Unfortunately, it only remained up from 9 AM to 9 PM, but interested Ushio & Tora fans can still see a 3/4 scale model of the spear in Animate Akihabara, Akihabara Gamers!, and other stores in the Akihabara district of Tokyo. They will be on display until September 29, after which they will be raffled off to lucky customers of Ushio and Tora Blu-Rays or DVDs. (The first Blu-Ray/DVD set goes on sale in Japan on September 30.)

The full-scale model can be seen in this web video of Ushio & Tora voice actors Tasuku Hatanaka (Ushio) and Kiyono Yasuno (MAYUKO) -- skip to 18:32.
