New York Nintendo Store Received Bomb Threat in April

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The official e-mail account for the The Nintendo World Store in New York isn't used very often, which is the primary reason that a bomb threat sent to the location almost two months ago was only recently discovered. Staff discovered that an angry individual had threatened violence against the location for removing Super Smash Bros. kiosks.

The New York Police Department confirmed the threat was sent via e-mail but the person who sent it had not taken any further action.

Information about the threat was relayed by Twitch streamer Mitsu who stated that the police considered the threat "credible" and that it was relayed to the FBI, that the threat was one of several that occurred over multiple days, and that it could be investigated as a terrorist act.

The Nintendo World Store is located in Midtown in Rockefeller Center. A manager of the location declined to comment on the case to the New York Daily News.

Nintendo announced its newest Super Smash Bros. title, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, for the Nintendo Switch console at E3 last week. The Nintendo World NYC store held three Super Smash Bros. competitions and live streamed the battles just last week.
