The World Cosplay Summit (WCS) opened online registration on Monday for the One Piece Cosplay King Grand Prix. To celebrate the TV anime's 20th anniversary, the World Cosplay Summit is recruiting 20 One Piece cosplayers from around the world: 9 characters from the Straw Hat crew, and 11 others. Movie-original characters are applicable.
The 20 selected cosplayers will appear at the World Cosplay Summit 2019 in Nagano on August 3, where they will compete for the title of Grand Prix champion. There is no restriction on applicable countries or regions, and all travel and lodging costs will be covered by the World Cosplay Summit Secretariat.
To apply, you must register an account at Cosplayers.Global and post a photo of yourself with the hashtag #opcosplayking. The registration period lasts from January 7 to March 30, and those who pass the selection will be contacted in early May. Applicants must be older than 18.
The World Cosplay Summit is a cosplay festival that first kicked off in 2003. Cosplayers from around the world represent their country in the event to decide the world's best cosplay. Last year, representatives from 38 countries and regions competed for the largest WCS event to date.
