Banana Fish, Idolish7 Win Awards for Encouraging Tourism

The Japan Travel Industry Association (JATA) announced the winners of the Tour Grand Prix 2019 awards on June 24. The awards honor tourism plans in both overseas and domestic travel that benefit the travel industry as a whole. This year the committee recognized Kinki Nippon Tourist Kanto's Banana Fish tour in New York City and an IDOLiSH7 tour of Kyoto.
The Banana Fish tour received the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism Award and the IDOLiSH7 tour received the Tourism Agency Secretary's Award. The Banana Fish tour included visits to the American Museum of Natural History, Grand Central Station, the area surrounding Exchange Place in Jersey, Chinatown, and the Staten Island Ferry. The tour also included a bus to take tourists from place to place. The bus tour was "guided" with commentary by Kenji Nojima and Yūma Uchida, the voices behind characters Eiji Okumura and Ash Lynx. After the day's activities conclude, tourists could attend a private dinner party and screening of Banana Fish's final episode while perusing unique merchandise.
IDOLiSH7's "OFF/Journey@AICHI" tour is still available for booking. The tour includes transportation to and from Tokyo to Kyoto and lodging with special bonus items depending on the tour package.
