CG Final Fantasy movie to be distributed by Sony

Sci-Fi Magazine Online reports that Sony Pictures Entertainment has obtained world-outside-of-Asia distribution rights for Squaresoft's new entirely rendered Final Fantasy movie. The movie, which is planned for a 2001 release, is being written by Al Reinert (Apollo 13), and is rumored to have production spread between Japan and America. It will not feature any characters or storylines from existing or planned Final Fantasy RPG games.
