Yaoi Con Announcement

posted on
We've received the Press Release for Yaoi-Con, the first North American convention dedicated to Yaoi. Yaoi-Con takes place on September 1st & 2nd, 2001 at the Radisson Miyako Hotel in San Francisco.

You don't know what Yaoi is? Well, from the Sci-Fi.com Anime Encyclopaedia, Yaoi is "an acronym for "yama-nashi, ochi-nashi, imi-nashi" meaning "no climax, no resolution, no meaning". It deals with stories and situations that depicts two men involved in a sexual nature. A more often than not rather graphic sexual nature as well."

Guests of the convention include Higuri You (Manga-ka: Seimaden, Lost Angel, Gorgeous Carat), Shinjuku Nishiguchi Side (illustrator/doujinshi-ka), Azusa Kurokawa (manga-ka: Reijin/Take Shobo) and others.

Yaoi-Con is expectin some 800 attendants this year, of which they expect 90% to be female fans of Anime and Manga. Due to the mature and often explicit nature of the material at this convention, attendees must be 18 years of age and older.

Membership Rates: US$40 until 1 May; $50 May 1 - July 31 (must be 18+ to attend)
