CLAMP to Draw One-Shot Washizu Mahjong Manga

The Clamp female manga quartet will draw a one-shot manga in the September issue (on sale on August 8) of Monthly Kindai Mahjong Original, a magazine published by Takeshobo for players of the ancient Chinese tile game of mahjong. This is the first time that Clamp has ever drawn for this magazine. CLAMP will draw a special short manga in the theme of Washizu (pictured at right), a new manga based on the manipulative gambler character Iwao Washizu from the long-running Akagi gambling manga.
Nobuyuki Fukumoto still draws the original Akagi manga, while Keiichirō Hara had just launched the spinoff manga Washizu: Enma no Tōhai in Monthly Kindai Mahjong Original's July issue (released on June 8). The CLAMP work will explore a new page in the history of Washizu, a "monstrous," amoral character who has spent much of the 20th century gambling on the lives of others.
