The North American publisher Dark Horse Comics has announced that it will host signings by popular artist Yoshitaka Amano and manga creator Yasuhiro Nightow on July 25 at Comic-Con International in San Diego, California. Both of their signing sessions will be ticketed events. Amano illustrated the original Vampire Hunter D novels and designed the characters for numerous projects, including several Final Fantasy game installments, the Angel's Egg anime, two Gatchaman sequels, and Genesis Climber Mospeada. Another company, Radical Publishing, is actually sponsoring his latest appearance at the convention to promote Yoshitaka Amano's Mateki: The Magic Flute graphic novel and the planned anime adaptation.
Nightow is best known for creating the genre-blending Trigun action manga and anime, but he also created the Gungrave anime series and a few other smaller manga projects. A new animated Trigun movie is in the works. Nightow has often attended Comic Con International in the past as both a guest and a self-professed fan of American comics. Stan Sakai, the Japanese-American creator of Usagi Yojimbo and another frequent attendee of Comic-Con International, will also hold a signing session on July 26.
Update: Nightow has another signing session on July 27.
