Nippon Ichi Software Sales/Marketing Head Satō Resigns

Nippon Ichi Software (NIS) announced on Friday that Tomohiro Satō is resigning as the head of the Sales and Marketing Division of the Japanese software distributor on March 31 "for personal reasons." Satō currently answers to Sōhei Niikawa, who continues to serve as president and COO. (Besides heading NIS, Niikawa has been a producer on its Disgaea game franchise.)

NIS reported on February 5 that operating profits for the first nine months (April-December 2009) of the current fiscal year were down 97.5% compared to the same period the previous year. The following Monday (February 8), the company's stock price dropped from 36,200 yen (US$395) to 29,200 yen (US$318) before the JASDAQ stock exchange halted trading on the company. As of February 19, the company's stock price stands at 28,300 yen (US$308).

NIS America, the American subsidiary of NIS, announced last week that Toradora!, Pandora Hearts, Persona -trinity soul-, and Our Home's Fox Deity. (Wagaya no Oinari-sama.) as its first anime licenses for North America. NIS America discussed its new anime initiative on this week's ANNCast.
