Studio creators submit concepts for web viewers to rank; 1st project is KyoAni Sisters

The Japanese anime studio Kyoto Animation has launched a new web page for its "KyoAni Original Project" initiative with the first project, KyoAni Sisters, on Friday. Each KyoAni Original Project has a theme which the creators at the studio can develop into their own original character concepts. Each entry is posted on Kyoto Animation's website, and viewers can vote on which ones they like. Kyoto Animation has not announced what, if anything, will become of the top-ranked entries.

The theme of the KyoAni Sisters project is four sisters, and the website posted two entries from "Kinoko" (pictured at right) and "Obobobobo" (pictured at left).

Last year, Kyoto Animation created a Kyoto Animation Award competition for original novel, manga, and story scenarios. The popular winning entries were to have had a chance at being animated by Kyoto Animation. However, the studio announced in April that no grand prizes were awarded in any category.
