NTV to Make Madhouse Anime Studio Its Subsidiary

Broadcaster to own 85% of studio; Index now owns 60.91%
The Japanese broadcasting company NTV announced on Tuesday that it will make the anime Studio Madhouse its subsidiary. NTV will become Madhouse's primary stockholder at about 85%, via a third-party allocation of shares for about 1 billion yen (about US$12 million) on February 18.
Madhouse's numerous anime works include Metropolis, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, Millennium Actress, Summer Wars, Ninja Scroll, Card Captor Sakura, Monster, Hajime no Ippo, Iron Man, and Wolverine. Madhouse is currently 60.91% owned by Index and 10.40% owned by NTV. NTV aims to have an operating profit of 300 million yen (US$3.6 million) in three years.
