Masashi Tanaka's Gon Dinosaur Manga to Resume in March

posted on by Egan Loo
Manga to return a decade later, before CG animated adaptation's April debut

The April issue of Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon magazine is announcing on Saturday that Masashi Tanaka will resume his Gon manga in the next issue on March 24. The manga follows a plucky little dinosaur as it makes its way through the great wilderness. A signature feature of the manga is its lack of dialogue or sound effects.

The same April issue also announced that a 3D computer-graphics (CG) animated adaptation of the manga will begin this April. Previously, a Korean television adaptation of the series was announced in 2008 for an early 2010 broadcast. It was then pushed back to late 2011, but it has yet to be released.

The first run of the Gon manga ran in Kodansha's Morning magazine from 1991 to 2002, and Paradox Press and CMX Manga once published it in North America. Kodansha USA published the fourth of seven volumes from the manga's first run this month.
