Busō Chūgakusei Basket Army's 2nd Anime Short Streamed

The official website for the Busō Chūgakusei Basket Army (Armed Middle School Student Basket Army) project began streaming its first four-minute anime short on Wednesday. The prequel manga Busō Chūgakusei Zero and the sequel light novel Busō Chūgakusei 2045 -Natsu- also shipped on the same day. The first anime short appeared in December.

Busō Chūgakusei is based on a story written by Kazushige Nojima, the game scenario writer best known for role-playing games such as the Kingdom Hearts franchise, Black Rock Shooter the Game, and Final Fantasy VIII, X, X-2, and Versus XIII.

The story is set in August of 2026 at the Fuji Training Facility. Tōko Natori (voiced by Ami Koshimizu) is a third-year middle school student in the Eastern Defense Academy — Japan's first private organization to be established under the National Defense Education Law two years earlier. Tōko is entrenched in field training with instructor Kamiya. It has been a harsh training regiment, but it is finally the last day. Kamiya proposes a "extracurricular class" under the name "Newest Weapons Research." But then, an incident occurs that turns the training facility into a sea of blood. The second short focuses on the members of the Trident company's strike team that was dispatched to the training facility for Tōko.

On the other hand, the Busō Chūgakusei Zero manga depicts the past of Tōko and fellow student Kazuki. The light novel Busō Chūgakusei 2045 -Natsu- is set nearly 20 years later, after the National Defense Education Law has ushered a new era when children make up the national defense of Japan. In the summer of 2045, Reiji Kusaka and three other students are summoned to Okinawa for a girl named Towa Yagami.

Atsushi Kawasaki (Duel Masters card game) is serving as art director of the project, and Mitsudoki Akashikurasu is designing the characters. Tomokazu Nakano (The King Of Fighters Neowave) is contributing conceptual designs, and Kenji Kawai (Ghost in the Shell, Death Note, Eden of the East) is composing the music. Romanov Higa (Catblue: Dynamite, TANK S.W.A.T. 01) is directing, storyboarding, and editing the anime at the studio asread and Studio RF.

The following are in the main cast of the second short:
Chris: Kikuko Inoue
Gabriel: Nobuaki Kanemitsu
Tōchi: Hiroki Yasumoto
