"Say 'I love you'" Shōjo Anime's 1st Ad Aired

Ritsuko Okazaki's "Friendship" theme featured in new ad for series premiering October 6

A commercial began airing for the upcoming Suki-tte Ii na yo. (Say, "I Love You".) shōjo television anime. Like the previous promotional video, the ad features the anime's opening theme song, "friendship ~for Suki-tte Ii na yo.," written by the late Ritsuko Okazaki.

Kanae Hazuki's manga tells the story of Mei Tachibana, a girl who has never made friends or had a boyfriend in 16 years. One day, she accidentally injures Yamato Kurosawa, the school's most popular boy. For some reason, Yamato becomes interested in Mei and starts a one-sided friendship with her. He even protects her from a stalker — by kissing her.

Kodansha's Dessert magazine announced in May that an anime adaptation of the manga had been green-lit. The main cast, including Ai Kayano (Guilty Crown's Inori, Hyou-ka's Mayaka) as Mei Tachibana and Takahiro Sakurai (.hack//Roots's Haseo, Black Butler II's Claude), was announced in June. The anime will premiere on October 6 in Japan.
