Starchild Records' website for the anime adaptation Kanae Hazuki's Suki-tte Ii na yo. (Say, "I Love You".) revealed the opening and ending theme songs' artists this past week.

The opening theme "friendship ~for Suki-tte Ii na yo." is a version of the late Ritsuko Okazaki's "friendship" song, previously performed by other artists for Love Hina. It will be part of a collection album that will ship on November 7. Okazaki performed in several anime series, including Fruits Basket, Princess Tutu, UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie, and Okusama wa Maho Shojo. Okazaki also wrote the lyrics and composed for several other series such as Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight! and Koi Kaze. The singer and songwriter passed away in 2004.

SuneoHair is performing the series' closing theme "slow dance." Born Kenji Watanabe, SuneoHair made his debut in 2002 and since performed the ending themes to Arakawa Under the Bridge, its sequel Arakawa Under the Bridge x Bridge, Honey and Clover, and Honey and Clover II. The "slow dance" single will go on sale on October 24.

Kanae Hazuki's manga tells the story of Mei Tachibana, a girl who has never made friends or had a boyfriend in 16 years. One day, she accidentally injures Yamato Kurosawa, the school's most popular boy. For some reason, Yamato becomes interested in Mei and starts a one-sided friendship with her. He even protects her from a stalker — by kissing her.

The anime will premiere on Japanese television on October 6.
