DreamWorks in Talks to Remake Hirokazu Kore-eda's Like Father, Like Son

posted on by Egan Loo

The Deadline website reported on Wednesday that DreamWorks is negotiating the rights to remake Hirokazu Kore-eda's Like Father, Like Son (Soshite Chichi ni Naru) film from Fuji TV. According to the website, DreamWorks co-founder Steven Spielberg became interested in this live-action film about babies switched at birth, after seeing it as the head of the Cannes Film Festival jury this year.

The film earned the Jury Prize and a standing ovation at the festival. Kore-eda previously screened his manga-based live-action Kūki Ningyō (Air Doll) film as part of the festival's Official Selection in 2009.
