Publisher looking to raise US$250,000 by December 5 for new stretch goal

North American publisher Fantagraphics Books announced on Monday that its new stretch goal for its Kickstarter campaign will be to increase its line of "literary and experimental manga translation." Fantagraphics' stretch goal is US$250,000, and as of press time the campaign has raised US$204,665. The campaign ends on Thursday, December 5 at 1:00 p.m. EST.

Fantagraphics' Kickstarter campaign launched on November 5 to raise money to fund the 39 graphic novels and books slated for release next spring and summer. The lineup includes volume 7 of Takako Shimura's Wandering Son manga.

Fantagraphics cited recent financial hardships since the passing of its co-owner and co-publisher Kim Thompson in June.

Aside from Wandering Son, Fantagraphics has released Moto Hagio's A Drunken Dream and The Heart of Thomas manga, and will be releasing Inio Asano's Nijigahara Holograph manga.

Fantagraphics reached its original US$150,000 funding goal on November 12.
