Mushishi Anime Special's 1st TV Ad Features Past Characters

Yuto Nakano returns as Ginko in 1-hour special about sun-eating shade

The television channel BS11 aired a one-minute commercial on Friday for the upcoming one-hour Mushishi Tokubetsu-hen: Hihamukage (Mushishi Special: Sun-Eating Shade) anime special. The preview confirms that the special will also feature past characters such as Adashino and Tanyuu.

Yuto Nakano is returning to star as Ginko, and Mika Doi will again serve as the narrator. Additionally, Rio Sasaki will play Hinata, and 11-year-old Yuuna Watanabe will play Hiyori.

Hiroshi Nagahama is returning to direct the special at animation studio Artland. Yoshihiko Umakoshi is also returning to serve as character designer and chief animation director.

The anime special will air on January 4 at 11:30 p.m. on Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, and BS11. Additionally, the special will stream on Niconico.

The upcoming special is is based on Yuki Urushibara's two-chapter extra that Kodansha is publishing in the January and February issues of the Afternoon magazine, which are shipping on November 25 and December 25 respectively.

Urushibara's manga began in 1995, and finished in Afternoon in 2008. Del Rey published the the manga, and Funimation released Hiroshi Nagahama and Artland's anime adaptation and Katsuhiro Otomo's live-action film version in North America.
