Game developer Keiji Inafune (Rockman/Megaman) told gaming website Polygon that he is in talks with Contradiction Films writer and producer Tim Carter for a possible Mighty No. 9 live-action movie adaptation. Inafune stated he has been approached by Carter but Comcept has not decided whether they will work with Contradiction Films yet.
"It's not actually a 100 percent set deal yet," he said. "It is something we are looking forward to and considering the possibilities of. We are in talks with Contradiction about the possibility of making a live-action Mighty No. 9 movie."
Inafune stated that Comcept see Mighty No. 9 as a possible franchise that could include "comic book, manga, anime, movie, [and] TV drama series." He stated that more discussions about the live-action adaptation will take place after the company receives a script.
Inafune and his company raised over US$3.5 million in its crowdfunding campaign in October. The side-scrolling adventure will be released for PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
His team now aims to release the game in April 2015 for the PC with gamepad support.
