Keiji Inafune & comcept raise US$3.5 million in pledges for side-scroller

Mega Man (Rockman) designer/producer Keiji Inafune and his company comcept met the US$3.5-million pledge goal for bringing their Mighty No. 9 side-scrolling game to the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS on Tuesday — about 10 hours before the campaign ends. The game is already heading to PCs after meeting its US$900,000 pledge goal within two days of launching its campaign in August. It is also coming to Macintosh, Linux, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Natsume-san at Inti Creates created new art (pictured right) of the characters for the campaign's final push.

Inafune is planning for the game to be a side-scrolling adventure that has a classic feel, but new, revolutionary elements. Inafune is also accepting fan input in order to improve the game even further. His team now aim to release the game in spring 2015 for the PC with gamepad support.

Alongside Inafune, Naoya Tomita (Mega Man level design, Mega Man 2 stages, Mega Man 5 & 8 character designs) is designing the game, and Takenori Kimoto a.k.a. "Kimo Kimo" (Darkstalkers 3, Vampire Hunter 2 character design) is designing the characters. Original Mega Man soundtrack composer Manami Matsumae is providing the music in collaboration with Mega Man 2 composer Takashi Tateishi.

Matsumae made a new arrangement of his music to accompany a fan art tribute video:
