Third live-action film based on Crows manga opens in theaters on April 12

The May issue of Akita Shoten's Monthly Shonen Champion will announce on Friday that manga creator Hiroshi Takahashi (Crows, Worst) will launch the Crows Gaiden: Katagiri Ken Monogatari mini-series in the June issue on May 2.

Takahashi's Crows manga ran for 26 volumes, and Digital Manga Publishing partially published its sequel manga Worst in English. Crows also inspired a two-episode anime OVA adaptation, the 1994 Koukou Butouden Crows. Tokyo Shock released the Crows Zero film on Blu-ray Disc last year in North America after the film had been previously released in North America on DVD in 2009, and the video label MVM released both Crows Zero and Crows Zero II in the United Kingdom.

Crows Explode, the 3rd film in the live-action Crows film series is opening in Japan on April 12. The movie will get a special manga chapter in this year's 19th issue of Weekly Shonen Champion on April 10.

Takahashi also launched Tsuki ni Te o Nobase - QP - Tom & Jerry Gaiden manga with artist Hiromasa Okushima in Monthly Shonen Champion on March 6.
