Man Arrested for Burglary of Ashita no Joe Creator's Cottage

Police arrested 28-year-old unemployeed Hiroshi Itō on Friday for illegally entering the vacation cottage of manga creator Tetsuya Chiba for the purpose of theft. The suspect allegedly entered the home in Shizuoka Prefecture's Itō City on Friday at about 12:50 p.m. to steal money and goods.
According to the police, a neighbor discovered the suspect within the premises of the cottage, and police were quickly dispatched to arrest the suspect. The suspect denied the charge, saying that he "was only trying to pass through."
Chiba created such classic works as the boxing manga Ashita no Joe and the sumo wrestling manga Notari Matsutaro. Both titles inspired anime, including this year's Rowdy Sumo Wrestler Matsutaro!!
