Netflix just randomly picked the show up for airing a few weeks ago. Can’t help but wonder if a new anime is in the pipeline as well.

I hope so. Kenichi is an old favorite of mine. This is in my top 10 list of anime that I want remade. |

Technically Shounen. This definitely wasn't on my bingo card of old series to get a sequel and/or remake. Not that I'm mad, love Kenichi. Funny, I just re-read Air Gear and was thinking Kenichi was next on my "to re-read" list. Time to start! |

It's kinda in the same vein as what Tougen Anki is today in how the author likes to draw his women voluptuous while trying to maintain the Shounen formula. |

It is simply its selling point. That being said, I had Kenichi on my mind lately, though about possible anime remake, but haven't expected actual manga sequel. Maybe Matsuena realized that no matter what else he makes, it won't be as popular as this. |

When the series began it was soft ecchi, kinda like Fairy Tail, nothing special. But then it hits chapter 100ish and goes full on nudity To Love You: Darkness level, girls breast become so big that it's actually unappealing and the plot suffers since the series expends pages that could be used flesh the plot to show full body shoots. Which it's a shame since it made a better "Work hard vs talent" plot than Naruto at the time. However, credit where credit is due, the series also does male nudity, I mean, don't get me wrong, girls are 90% of the naked-time, but there are various scenes of guys naked too. |

Only at the very start of Kenichi it has any semblance of a Shounen series worhab it of service, which is what the anime adaptation is like. Then something happened and it's like he got possessed by the soul of yabuki kentaro, from there on, as this happens in the stuff he made after Kenichi as well. Lot of nudity, lots of situational ecchi, and like kentaro , lots of tricks to show stuff he is not allowed to show . Unlike yabuki kentaro, this one actually does a thing where the clothes are so skintight the characters might as well be naked , especially in the monochrome manga format. the plot still kind of happens, tho. This being a sequel I assume it will be the heavy fanservice thing, with actual sex intercourse being the only thing out of the picture . |

I first became aware of Kenichi because Capcom published a fighting game for it and it was developed by Eighting. I wouldn't say it's really worth importing since the story in the game is the same exact one from the TV anime and you could just watch the anime. It was still a lot of fun. The theme from the Sumo stage was especially good, I always think back to it now and again. My alarm clock used to ring the same way as the beat of that song, so if I overslept that song would play in my head as the alarm was sounding!
Miu's design, the blonde girl in the image is obviously based on Cammy from Street Fighter II. She even shares Cammy's love of cats. So if you like Street Fighter you'll have a pretty good time with the anime. The anime itself never finished, the OVAs leave off in a middle of an arc. Hopefully they'll continue the anime someday, especially now since there will be new content. |

My anime club showed it back in the day and the ftg is good if basic (it's in the middle as far as Eighting is concerned) being blunt we never got the manga over here (it was fun talking to a korean expat about it when I bought the game to a event)
