Level-5 announced Layton 7 for the Nintendo 3DS as well as iOS and Android devices in 2013. Hino's announcement on Tuesday made no mention of a Nintendo 3DS version.
Screenshots unveiled at the event revealed that the game will involve cards and fortunetelling. Players will also have to use their skills and intuition to uncover the identity of a traitorous "vampire."
Level-5 released Professor Layton & the Azran Legacy in 2013 as the "final and greatest adventure" of Professor Layton. The game marked the conclusion of the second trilogy in the Professor Layton franchise.
The Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney crossover game shipped for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan in 2012. Nintendo released the game in North America, Europe, and Australia last year.
