Silent Möbius QD Manga Approaches Climax

posted on by Karen Ressler
Series set 17 years after original manga

This year's June issue of Kodansha's Monthly Young Magazine will announce on Wednesday that Kia Asamiya's Silent Möbius QD (Quadriga) will reach its climax in the following issue on June 20.

Asamiya launched the series in August 2013 and Kodansha published the first compiled volume in November 2014. Kei Shigema, scriptwriter on the Silent Möbius film, assists with the manga project.

The story is set 17 years after Asamiya's original paranormal police manga Silent Möbius, which debuted in 1988. The original manga deals with Attacked Mystification Police (AMP), an elite all-female unit who protects Tokyo from Lucifer Hawks and other supernatural creatures in the 2020s. The new "special police battle fantasy" manga will feature a "reborn" AMP unit.

Viz published the 12 volumes of the original manga in North America in monthly issues and later in compiled volumes. Udon Entertainment announced in 2009 that it planned to republish the original manga as they were published in Japan, including the later Silent Möbius Tales and Silent Möbius Klein volumes, but the company has since only published the first four volumes of the original manga.

The first manga spawned two theatrical anime films and a 26-episode television anime series. Streamline Pictures released the first movie, while Bandai Entertainment released both movies and the television series.

Update: The magazine announced that the manga would reach a climax but did not confirm it would end. The word "climax" written in the phonetic katakana alphabet often refers to the final chapter of a manga.
