Crunchyroll to Stream Sekkō Boys TV Anime
posted on by Egan Loo
Media distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Friday that it will stream the Sekkō Boys television anime as it airs in Japan. The streaming will begin this Friday at 11:40 a.m. EST worldwide except in Asia.
Sekkō Boys is a unit of four stone figures — the military saint and group leader Saint Giorgio, history's original celebrity Medici, the strikingly handsome and multi-talented Hermes, and the god of war Mars who is earnest about love — who become idiosyncratic idols. The story depicts their efforts to make it in the entertainment world with their female manager Miki Ishimoto, who just graduated from college.
The anime will star:
Tomokazu Sugita (Gintama's Gintoki, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya's Kyon) as Saint Giorgio
Shinnosuke Tachibana (Kamisama Kiss' Tomoe, Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches' Shinichi Tamaki) as Medici
Jun Fukuyama (Code Geass' Lelouch, Blue Exorcist's Yukio) as Hermes
Daisuke Ono (Durarara!!'s Shizuo, Black Butler's Sebastian) as Mars
Also starring are:
Shiho Kokido (Brave Beats' Kotone, Go! Princess Precure's Aroma) as the Sekkō Boys' manager Miki Ishimoto
Yui Makino as the top idol Mira Hanayashiki
Takaya Kuroda as Hanzō Horibe, the president of the Holbein Entertainment agency where the manager Ishimoto lands a job
Rena Maeda as Kinue Yamashita, Mira's manager
Takahiro Sakurai as Hironori Yanagisawa, a manager who has been at Holbein longer than Ishimoto
The concept is the brainchild of the character goods maker Zargiani Works, media company Kadokawa, and art supplier Holbein Artist Materials. Tomoki Takuno (Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches) is directing the anime with assistant director Fumiaki Usui (Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches) at LIDEN FILMS. Michiko Yokote (Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches, Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!) is supervising and writing the series scripts. Eriko Itō (Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches) is serving as character designer and chief animation director. "Sekkō Boys" are also credited with performing the anime's theme song.
The anime will premiere on January 8 as one of the series of anime shorts in the Ultra Super Anime Time timeslot on the Tokyo MX and BS11 stations.
