UTAMONOGATARI –MONOGATARI SERIES THEME SONGS COMPILATION ALBUM- — the album set that collects the theme songs used in the various anime adaptations of NisiOisin's Monogatari Series light novels — sold about 66,000 copies in its debut week, and topped the Oricon weekly album chart.

The album set shipped in Japan on January 6. The limited edition set comes in three versions and includes new cover art by Akio Watanabe and two CDs with all 23 opening and ending songs for the Monogatari Series. Two versions add a Blu-ray or DVD with textless opening and closing sequences. The regular edition includes just the cover art and CDs. Aniplex of America will release the album in North America on January 18.

The last time an anime theme song compilation album topped the weekly album chart was 2010's ONE PIECE MEMORIAL BEST album, five years and 10 months ago. Other albums to accomplish the feat include, October 2004's FULL METAL ALCHEMIST COMPLETE BEST, November 2005's MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED DESTINY COMPLETE BEST, and January 2009's CODE GEASS COMPLETE BEST. UTAMONOGATARI –MONOGATARI SERIES THEME SONGS COMPILATION ALBUM- is the fifth anime theme song compilation album to accomplish the feat.
