OVA featuring 30 minutes of chibi anime shorts ships with 11th novel volume on September 30

Kadokawa began streaming a "Narberal version" promotional video on Thursday for the anime on Blu-ray Disc that will ship with the 11th volume of Kugane Maruyama's Overlord light novel series. The Blu-ray Disc will contain 30 minutes of new footage of the Pure Pure Purea Desu chibi anime short series, and will feature the appearance of the Pleiades combat maids, as well as the rest of the Floor Guardians. The 11th volume is slated to ship on September 30.

The original Pure Pure Purea Desu comedy anime shorts featured super-deformed characters, and each short aired after the AT-X network's broadcast of each episode of the main Overlord television anime series in 2015. The shorts also streamed online, and then shipped with the Japanese home video releases of the main Overlord anime. The Overlord anime's main cast reprised their roles for the anime shorts.

The 13-episode Overlord television anime series premiered in Japan in July 2015. The story takes place in the year 2138 when virtual reality gaming is booming. Yggdrasil, a popular online game, is quietly shut down one day. However, the protagonist Momonga decides to not log out. Momonga is then transformed into the image of a skeleton as "the most powerful wizard." The world continues to change, with non-player characters (NPCs) beginning to feel emotion. Having no parents, friends, or place in society, this ordinary young man Momonga then strives to take over the new world the game has become.

Funimation streamed the anime series as it aired in Japan.
