Publisher Kodansha's light novel blog revealed on October 20 that a new Seraph of the End light novel titled Owari no Seraph: Ichinose Guren, 19-sai no Sekai Resurrection (Seraph of the End: Guren Ichinose: World Resurrection at Age 19) will ship in December. The original manga's author Takaya Kagami is writing the novel and Yō Asami is providing the illustrations. The release is listed as the first volume.
Kagami previously wrote the Seraph of the End: Guren Ichinose: Catastrophe at Sixteen novel series (pictured right) with illustrations by the original manga's artist Yamato Yamamoto. Kodansha published the seventh volume in December 2016. Asami launched an ongoing manga adaptation in June. Vertical published three omnibus novel volumes in English in 2016.
The main manga's story takes place in a world where an unknown virus has killed the entire human population except for children. Those children were then enslaved by vampires. The manga centers on Yūichirō Hyakuya, a human who dreams of becoming strong enough to kill all vampires.
Kagami, Yamamoto, and storyboard artist Daisuke Furuya launched the manga in Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine in 2012, and Shueisha published the manga's 13th compiled volume in December. The manga's 15th volume will ship on November 2 in Japan. Viz Media publishes the manga in North America digitally in its Weekly Shonen Jump anthology and in print, and the company published the 12th compiled volume on June 6.
The manga inspired a 12-episode television anime series in April 2015. The 12-episode second season of the anime, Seraph of the End: Battle in Nagoya, premiered in October 2015. and Funimation streamed both seasons as they aired in Japan, and released them on home video.
Update: Vertical's releases were omnibus volumes. Thanks, BodaciousSpacePirate.
