posted on by Karen Ressler
Convention schedules 2 concerts for August

Otakon announced over the weekend that it will host composer Nobuo Uematsu and music director and conductor Arnie Roth as guests for its musical festivities. The convention will host two concerts for Uematsu's Final Fantasy music: "Distant Worlds: Music From Final Fantasy" on Friday and "A New World: Intimate Music from Final Fantasy" on Sunday. Admission to both concerts is included with membership.

In addition to composing most of the Final Fantasy games, Uematsu also scored the Chrono Trigger game (with primary composer Yasunori Mitsuda), the Blue Dragon game and anime franchise, the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children film, Ah! My Goddess: The Movie, and Guin Saga.

Arnie Roth, a Grammy award-winning artist, is also a conductor, composer, producer, and a trained violinist. He has worked as a composer for other Square Enix concerts and for various TV shows and series on PBS.

Otakon 2018 will be held from August 10-12 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.
