Legend of the Galactic Heroes' New Stage Play Reveals Visual, 4 Cast Members

The official website for the new stage play series adaptation of Yoshiki Tanaka's epic science fiction novel series Legend of the Galactic Heroes revealed a visual and four cast members on Friday for the first play in the series.
The play stars:
Seiichirō Nagata as Reinhard von Lohengramm
Shō Katō as Sigfried Kircheis
Ryō Hatakeyama as Oskar von Reuentahl
Miami Tsurimoto as Wolfgang Mittermeier
The first play in the new series will run at Zepp Diver City Tokyo from October 25-28. Michiko Ōiwa is directing the play, Yōko Yonaiyama is writing the script, and screenwriter Noboru Takagi is credited with supervision and organization. The play's title is Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These.
The novels previously inspired 11 stage plays starring Tori Matsuzaka that ran between 2011-2015.
A new 12-episode television anime also titled The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These (The New Thesis) premiered on April 3. Crunchyroll is streaming the series with subtitles, and Funimation is streaming the series with an English dub.
The second season of the anime, The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These Seiran (The New Thesis: Stellar War), will then play in theaters, as three films of four episodes each, in 2019.
Tanaka's space opera novel series follows the epic conflict between the Galactic Empire and Free Planets Alliance, as well as the personal stories of Imperial Admiral Reinhard von Lohengramm and the Alliance's Yang Wen-Li. The 10 main novel volumes and four side-story volumes in The Legend of the Galactic Heroes saga have sold 15 million copies and earned Tanaka a Seiun Award.
Viz Media's Haikasoru imprint is releasing the original novel series.
The late director Noboru Ishiguro (Macross, Orguss, Megazone 23) and his Artland anime studio spent more than a decade adapting the novels into a theatrical and video anime franchise, with over 100 installments, from 1988 to 2000. Sentai Filmworks has licensed the video anime series for home video, and will release the series in July in a limited-edition boxset. Sentai Filmworks also began streaming the anime on HIDIVE last year.
