Super Neptunia RPG Delayed in Japan to December

PS4/Switch game slated for the West next spring

Compile Heart announced on Tuesday that it has delayed the release date of its Super Neptunia RPG (Yūsha Neptune: Sekai yo Uchū yo Katsumoku se yo!! Ultimate RPG Sengen!!) game from its original September 27 release date in Japan to December 20 in order to improve the game's quality.

The game will ship for the PlayStation 4 in Japan, and Idea Factory International will release the game in the West in spring 2019 for the PS4 and Switch. The Western release will have English and Japanese audio and the option for French subtitles. It will be available physically and digitally, and will be Idea Factory International's first game in the Neptunia series to launch for Switch.

Idea Factory describes the 2D side-scrolling game:

In a world where 2D games reign supreme, an organization called Bombyx Mori forces its citizens to churn out 2D games as offerings to their leader. Those who dare to use new technologies or whose games don't meet their standards risk banishment to the soul-crushing Trial Grounds.

A girl awakens in this world with no recollection of anything beyond her name, Neptune, and soon realizes she possesses great strength. With her newfound sense of heroism and a strange book known as Histoire in hand, she sets off on a journey to see if there might be more than this two-dimensional life!

Quebec-based video game developer Artisan Studios is developing the game as part of Compile Heart's Neptunia franchise. Artisan Studios is the first Western studio to develop a game in the franchise. Series artist Tsunako hand-drew the characters.
