Carole & Tuesday Anime Gets Series of Flash-Animated Shorts

8-episode series features characters in chibi form

The staff of the Carole & Tuesday anime announced on Friday that the anime is getting a series of Flash-animated shorts titled Car & Tue. The first episode is available now, and the shorts will have eight total episodes.

The anime shorts center on "light-hearted, comical dialogue" between characters in the series. The first episode features the characters Gus and Roddy "humorously failing to communicate around their generation gap."

The anime premiered on Fuji TV's +Ultra programming block on April 10. The show also premiered on Netflix that same week in Japan only, with new episodes streaming on Thursdays on Netflix. Netflix has the exclusive worldwide streaming rights to the series, but the anime's website has not announced when the show will start streaming outside of Japan. The series marks the 20th anniversary of BONES and the 10th anniversary of Flying Dog.

The Anime Expo event will screen the show's first episode on July 6.

Fuji Creative's website is listing the anime with a total of 24 episodes. The anime's staff had previously revealed that the anime would run for two cours (two quarters of a year).

Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Kids on the Slope, Terror in Resonance) is the show's supervising director, Motonobu Hori is directing the anime, and Tsunenori Saito (Blast of Tempest, Sword of the Stranger) is designing the characters for animation. Canadian artist Mocky is composing the background music. The staff also includes Eisaku Kubonouchi (Chocolat, "Hungry Days" commercials) as original character designer, Aya Watanabe (Carnation, Josee, The Tiger and the Fish) as scriptwriter, and Flying Dog as in charge of music production. The anime is collaborating with synthesizer and keyboard brand Nord and guitar maker Gibson.
