The Toronto Comic Arts Festival (TCAF) announced on Saturday that it will host manga creator Battan (And Then There Were No Heroines; Run Away With Me, Girl) as a guest. The festival will also be hosting the following the manga artists who are part of the Manga International Network Team (MINT) Project as guests:
- Keita Katsushika, manga creator of Higashi Tokyo Machimachi (Diverse East Tokyo)
- Marco Kohinata, manga creator of Akari. Glacier Bay Books will release the manga in English in June.
- Tokushige Kawakatsu, manga creator of Yasegaman no Setsu (Grin and Bear It)
- Moka Onmae, manga creator of Good Morning, Good Night, and See You Tomorrow. (Ohayō, Oyasumi, Mata Ashita.) Seven Seas will release the manga in English in November 2026.
The festival will take place at Toronto Metropolitan University's Mattamy Athletic Centre on June 6-7.
Battan illustrated the poster for the festival (pictured right), which will be available for purchase at the event.
The MINT Project is a Japan Creator Support Fund initiative. Japan Publishing Industry Foundation for Culture (JPIC) acts as the secretariat and administrative organizing body for MINT. It specially selects and supports early-career manga artists and their editors in Japan to increase the recognition and value of manga's diversity overseas.
The TCAF has hosted Kamome Shirahama, creator of the Witch Hat Atelier manga, twice in 2024 and 2020.
