GDH, MK Pictures to produce SWIRI TV drama

GDH K.K ("GDH"; HQ: Tokyo; President: Shinichirō Ishikawa) announced today that GDH and MK Pictures (HQ: Seoul, South Korea, President: Lee Eun) have signed a mutual agreement to cooperate in the Asian film industry and jointly plan and develop a TV drama called "SWIRI".

A proven entity in film production, MK Pictures has worked on Brother Foot, SWIRI (director: Kang Je Gyu) and JSA-Joint Security Area (director: Pak Chan-wook) and is a leading South Korean film production company that features director Kang Je Gyu. Under the agreement, MK Pictures and GDH will comprehensively collaborate in film production, including movies, TV dramas and animation and, as a first step in this collaboration, they will plan and develop a TV broadcast version and a separate direct-to-DVD series based on the movie SWIRI, which was a hit movie in Japan and Korea in 1999 . GDH and MK Pictures will share information and ideas of each other's business beginning in the planning phase of such productions as movie and animation and will study the possibility of joint production and investment in production.

Based on the GONZO brand animation business, GDH has been proactively promoting overseas activities. Following the establishment of GK Entertainment, a subsidiary in South Korea, through comprehensive mutual cooperation with MK Pictures and joint development of "SWIRI", GDH will develop business opportunities by exploiting the characteristics of the two companies and will reinforce and expand film content business in Korea and other markets in the Asian region.
