Diplocon II early November 2006 in Lancaster, PA
LANCASTER, Pa.- September 13, 2006 - Franklin & Marshall College's Gaming Society, Anime Club, and Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) Club have committed to co-sponsoring Diplocon II, Lancaster's only gaming and anime convention, for the second year in a row.
Diplocon II is taking place on the Franklin & Marshall campus November 3-5, 2006. The convention will feature one-shot role playing games (RPGs), anime (Japanese animation), DDR, and open board game rooms. In addition, it will have a dealer room and an "artist's alley", a place for artists to exhibit and sell their work.
Held on the second and third floors of Stager Hall at F&M College, Diplocon II expects 200-300 attendees. The cost of admission is $15 to anyone with current student ID or $20 general admittance. Diplocon I, held in late February 2006, was spearheaded by Colin Presby '06. The convention received sponsorship from many local restaurants and national companies and was attended by well over 100 students and other gaming and anime enthusiasts.
ABOUT THE SPONSORING ORGANIZATIONS: The Gaming Society at Franklin & Marshall focuses on bringing RPGs, board games, and console games to students. The society features Dungeons & Dragons campaigns and games like Risk, Fluxx, Coloretto, and Settlers of Catan. F&M's Anime Club was founded in the mid-1990s to promote Japanese animation on campus. The club holds regular meetings and "All-Night-Anime" in which members watch two entire seasons of an anime in one night. The Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) Club promotes exercise and fun through dancing. DDR, a console game featuring dancing, originates from Japan and is copyright Konami.
