Bandai Entertainment Acquires Gurren Lagann Manga

October 3, 2008 (Cypress, CA) –Bandai Entertainment, INC. announced at New York Anime
Festival today that it has acquired the North American publishing rights for the Gurren Lagann
manga published in Japan by ASCII MEDIA WORKS.

The MEDIA WORKS manga series is beautifully illustrated by Kotarō Mori. Two volumes have
been released currently in Japan of the serialized installments which continue to be published, so
more volumes are planned.

The manga is an adaptation of the anime series featuring its own unique embellishments on the
Gainax hit series which centers on Simon, Kamina, and Yoko, youths who live in an
underground village in the future. They become embroiled in a conflict with surface Beastmen
who pilot mech known as Gunmen, one of which they take for themselves and name GURREN,
and lead the battle against the Beastmen. Recently the series won “best television series” and
“best character design' at the 2008 Tokyo Animation Fair (TAF).

The manga release date is slated for 2009 with more details to follow.
