Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. to Bring the Wildly Popular Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game Shonen Jump Championship to Gen Con Indy August 15-16

Hundreds of Duelists to Compete in SHONEN JUMP Championship

El Segundo, CA – (August 5, 2009) – Gen Con, the best four days in gaming, is set to be off-the-charts crazy as Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KDE) brings its premier tournament series, the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) SHONEN JUMP Championship, to the annual gaming convention in Indianapolis.

The KDE Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) SHONEN JUMP Championship (SJC) was successfully debuted in Anaheim in April and will be one of the Gen Con highlights for global TCG powerhouse KDE. Adding excitement to the SJC at Gen Con, the top three finalists will receive the highly sought-after “Dark End Dragon” Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's SHONEN JUMP Championship Prize Card.

TRADING CARD GAME Duelists and know the SHONEN JUMP Championship at Gen Con Indy will be very well attended,” noted Yumi Hoashi, vice president of Card Business for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. “As an official contributing sponsor of Gen Con, we are looking forward to again being a part of such a storied gaming convention where 25,000 of the most passionate hobby fans congregate each year.”

The second stop in KDE's SHONEN JUMP Championship series begins August 15-16 at the Indiana Convention Center. Players can sign up for a KDE Player ID and COSSY number at the event, if they have not already done so. The registration fee is $20, and each player will receive five booster packs just for participating. As an extra bonus, all participants with a standard (purchased) Gen Con badge will also receive five extra packs of Crimson Crisis, to celebrate the continued presence of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME at the world's longest-running gaming convention.

SHONEN JUMP Championship Gen Con details: Registration for the SHONEN JUMP Championship will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. on August 15 with Round One beginning at 10:00 a.m. The top 16 finalists for the SHONEN JUMP Championship will qualify to participate in their country's 2010 National Championship.

SHONEN JUMP Championship prizes:

• 1st place – Dark End Dragon SHONEN JUMP Championship Prize Card, Trophy, Paid travel and accommodations to the winner's 2010 National Championship (if underage, then winner and guardian), SHONEN JUMP Championship Top 16 Game Mat, one year subscription to SHONEN JUMP magazine

• 2nd place – Dark End Dragon SHONEN JUMP Championship Prize Card, a popular personal music player and docking station with speakers, SHONEN JUMP Championship Top 16 Game Mat, one year subscription to SHONEN JUMP magazine

• 3rd place – Dark End Dragon SHONEN JUMP Championship Prize Card, a popular videogame console and Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Wheelie Breakers game, SHONEN JUMP Championship Top 16, Game Mat, one year subscription to SHONEN JUMP magazine

KDE will offer exciting Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG events from Thursday through Sunday in the tournament hall which include Win-A-Mat tournaments, a Team Dueling event, League activities, and more. KDE will also offer special events for Duelists 12 and under. In addition, the top 8 Duelists of the Sunday Regional will also qualify to participate in the 2010 U.S. National Championship.
