I just want to know how long it'll take for one's subscriber status to take effect.
I looked around the site and all, but subscriber information has been really light...

If I remember correctly, it took effect pretty quickly. It took a few minutes for my payment to register in the system, but that was about all. Renewals take effect pretty much immediately.

Dunno. I imagine they have to get confirmation from your financial institution, and they can sometimes be awfuly stingy about transfers. I recommend patience, it'll show up. If it's not there by morning, though...

I just checked my online banking account.
It's pretty weird, actually - Paypay is currently processing a purchase confirmation. As in, taking out one dollar, and putting it back in.
I've never found that process to take more than 30 minutes, and usually five minutes after, the actual purchase would begin processing after a purchase confirmation.
That's based on my experiences with Amazon, RightStuf, Play-Asia, ebay, Think-Geek, etc etc.
Meaning, it's not my bank. It's either ANN, or Paypal. I dunno...I hope I'm not being too impatient with this.

I've found with PayPal that, while they are very convenient, and I use them frequently, they can be a little slower than a regular credit card purchase. I don't know why, but sometime they're pretty quick, and other times they're not so quick. Especially if I don't have an adequate cash balance and they have to make a draw from my bank account. They always complete the transaction though, even if they're not always as fast as I would like. So I would say patience is your best option at the moment.

Same thing happened to me when I renewed my subscription last year using Paypal instead of a credit card. I think it took about a week before my payment cleared. Renewal time is coming up for me again and this time I'll just use my cc.

Really? Because both times I bought a subscription, it happened immediately, and I used Paypal.

Same here. As soon as I clicked "confirm payment" on paypal I had my subscription up. It was about a week later that paypal actually withdrew money from my bank account.

It should be instant from the moment Paypal confirms the successful payment.
If you're using a credit card or Paypal account, that confirmation usually happens instantly. eCheck, direct withdrawals and other methods can take as much as a week. The delay isn't on our side, but rather with the banking system. Nothing PayPal can do to speed it up either.
If it did not take effect instantly, e-mail me your confirmation info at [out of date email address] and I'll 1) do it manually and 2) look into why it didn't take effect.
While it's "not our fault" I'll update the subscription page to make this clear for future subscribers.

Okay, this is starting to make a little bit of sense, but not really...
I checked my online bank account, and it shows that Paypal is still processing it. However, when I check the Paypal account...the purchase doesn't even show in my transaction history.
That said, I only opened up this Paypal account yesterday. I used to have a much older one for eBay, but locked it a long time ago. I'm guessing that has something to do with this?

Yeah the taking money out and putting it back in I believe is part of the verification process. I'd say you're right about the new account thing.
