I was just wondering, what do you guys think is the best anime of the new season?
My pick is My Hime and Gundam Seed Destiny. I was a pretty big fan of Gundam Seed, so I'm really looking forward to its sequel. Even though the story plot of My Hime is kinda overused, it has the potential to be original. So far it's been pretty interesting. I like the variety of characters in there. I expected the music to be better, though, since I'm a pretty big Kajiura fan. |

Gankutsusou is my definite fave so far this fall. The animation is great, the art style takes a while to get used to, but once you do it adds to the appealing look of the series, and its retelling of the Count of Monte Cristo has me completely hooked. They're being very creative with the story by putting it in a sci-fi setting, and I'm loving it.
Other than that, Bleach, and Tactics. Bleach is slightly differing from the manga, but I'm still liking it. Tactics is taking a completely different approach from the manga, but the animation, music, and... extreme bishonenification of some characters are causing me to enjoy it it. Only other fall anime I've looked at would be Harukanaru, which I don't really have much of an opinion of. Last edited by littlegreenwolf on Wed Oct 20, 2004 10:02 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Yeah, the animation is awesome. I've read The Count of Monte Cristo before and it was an intriguing book. I was really excited when they decided to base an anime on it.
The Bleach anime is ok, but I think the character designs aren't that great. I just hope that the animators will not put too many filler eps in and drag everything out too long.
I've only read the first few chaps of the manga, but I really liked the character designs. That's why I'm glad Haruka looks so awesome in the anime As for Harukanaru, the only reason I'm watching this is because so many of my fav seiyuu are in it. I don't particularly like the storyline, and the main girl character (forgot her name) is kinda annoying. |

In case you forgot:
And in response to the thread. I guess I can't really pick. I'm not really one to download fansubs, and even now when I have DSL, I have no urge to do so. In recent memory, I think I've only downloaded 2 fansubs, ever, episode 5 of Rurouni Kenshin one time, and episode 2 of Gundam SEED (because I missed it on Cartoon Network). Yes. I guess it's good if some people consider it as a part of the "honor code" for licensed anime, or whatever. But, oh well, guess that makes me a loser... |

I'd be a tie for me between Viewtiful Joe and Count of Monte Cristo.

Yeah, I'm kind of torn between Gankutsuo and BECK as my favorite anime of the season. They're both beautiful works of art, and that's what has nailed it down for me for the fall season. Coming in behind them is Kannazuki no Miko and Bleach, with Suika falling a distant third due to the fact that it's an OAV. There are some SERIOUSLY good anime coming out this fall, balanced out by some seriously bad stuff. But I still pick BECK to be the first title licenced.

Elfen Lied just finished two days ago. What a awsome series. The fav 2004 anime for me so far. While not sure if its 2004 anime I really enjoyed GUNGRAVE. I love mafiosi and yakuza movies and anime filled with action. GunGrave follows that direction. To people saying its not good they probably have only seen first episode. After that its back to reality for most part and should get you hooked. Please give it a try and enjoy the masterpiece too:)

definitely Mai-HiMe.
mikoto rocks =P the only thing that i don't like is the kajiura yuki-backed soundtrack. too much chanting for me. i really liked the first action sequence and i'd like to see more human vs human fights instead of fighting whacko monsters =P |

Nope, I waited until I saw the whole thing to pass judgment and I still strongly disliked it. The mafia parts were decent, yes, but they only made up...maybe ten episodes of the entire series? The rest of it was mind-numbingly lame nonsense about monster-men, zombie soldiers, and the complete disregard for any character development achieved during those ten-ish decent mob episodes. Anyway, I've only managed to check into one show from the current season because I've been so busy with class projects & tests this week (just take a wild guess as to which one; quick hint, it starts with a G), but once I finally sit down and watch the shows I've gotten so far, I'll come back & weigh in. I'm quite anticipating Kannadzuki no Miko & Yakitate!! Japan, and I'm also curious about the likes of Uta~Kata, Tsukiyomi, Bleach, & My Hime. |

My absolute favourite fall anime is Sensei no Ojikan. It has a hilarious concept.
I mean imagine if your teacher was 27 yrs old but looked like an elementary school kid? (think Chiyo chan!)
It is one of the best slice of life comedies I have ever seen and every character is just so likeable with their petty dilemmas of everyday life. There are so many story arcs in one episode that it keeps you engaged and yet manages to develop the characters too. This is a must watch |

For me its a draw between Sunabozu or Beck.
Im liking Beck because it seems to capture american culture well. Im so glad that they didn't go for the whole "Their american yet they can speak perfect, fluent japanese" thing. This will be licensed in no time Im liking Sunabozu because it is proboly the funniest show I've seen all year. The main character is set in the Gene Starwind mold (will too anything for money but is easily fooled by sexy women). I definetly reccomend this. |

no, this is like crack (Drug references are a pet peeve of mine) Well, seriously, what I like about Moon Phase is not necessarily the cute, but the contrast between cute and horror. In that respect, it reminds me of Alien 9 and Narutaru. Although, Soul Taker would probably be a more apt comparison, since they are from the same director, Akiyuki Shinbo. Also, Gankutsuou looks pretty cool. I love the static textures on everything. It looks like screen tones in comics. However, I just hope this doesn't turn into Hellsing 2, since George Nakata is doing the voice for the Count of Monte Cristo. Also, if there turns out to be a giant robot like the ending credits seem to indicate, that would be disappointing. |

Thank you for your comment and I respect that. But I think there are more then 10 eps with mafia. Anyways its great show since it has a nice mix of godfather and desperado. Not sure if you're watching Elfen Lied but check it out and I also think "Phantom Memory" is quite good, too. |
